HISTORY OF TIME: SANTOS
The Cartier: Santos 1904 watch, had its first beginnings when Louis Cartier created a watch for his good friend, a Brazilian aviator named Alberto Santos-Dumont. The Cartier Santos was officially named and launched in 1911 with a similar style as the 1904 creation.
The Santos name pays tribute to the eponymous monoplane, built by the famous Brazilian aviator Santos-Dumont, who dreamed of being able to check the time while flying. The rounded angles, the exposed screws of the dial, and the Roman numerals and sword-shaped hands of the iconic watch are reinterpreted in and stainless steel with elegance and refinement.
